Westchester ignored U.S. environmental laws to allow private jet hangar and terminal project

Today’s report in the Journal News is stunning. The headline says it all:

Westchester ignored U.S. environmental laws to allow private jet hangar and terminal project

We demand the Latimer administration start obeying & enforcing environmental laws at the airport, even if those laws inconvenience private jet owners.

Despite having ample notice, the Latimer administration did nothing to force its tenant Million Air to comply with environmental laws. Instead, they covered up the lack of approvals by retroactively seeking environmental permits after buildings were complete. They even ignored the FAA’s order to stop work in November 2018, allowing Million Air to continue construction for months until their new terminal opened in March 2019.

We hope these failures are not intentional and simply reflect the Latimer administration not having a handle on what is happening at the airport. There must be an immediate halt to all projects and construction until they do. Both the Astorino and Latimer administrations allowed Million Air’s project to proceed in violation of environmental laws. What other projects are being pursued in back rooms without environmental approvals or the public’s approval?

Call George Latimer to demand the county stop putting private jets before the environment. (914) 995-2910
